Footage Naming and Organization

Camera files need to be labeled based on the recommended naming convention. It’s preferable to add further information within the camera metadata like: Scene number, Day etc…

All produced footage must be organized and stored according to the folder structure and naming convention outlined below.

Any footage sourced externally must be cleared for use, with release documentation provided to the production team for inclusion in the organized folder structure. Additionally, any pre-existing footage utilized must undergo upscaling to meet the network’s specified standards.

 

Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) Requirements:

  1. The vendor shall provide a qualified Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) responsible for: a. Managing all shot material
  2. Backing up all shot material
  3. Organizing all shot material
  4. The DIT shall deliver a comprehensive DIT project file containing:
  5. Footage
  6. Metadata
  7. Logs
  8. Basic color correction
  9. Shot details
  10. The DIT project file shall ensure post-production readiness.
  11. Delivery method:
  12. The DIT project file shall be delivered through Al Jazeera Mediashuttle portal and/or on a hard disk
  13. The delivery method depends on the urgency of the project delivery

 

1st Assistant Director (AD) Requirements:

  1. The vendor shall provide a 1st Assistant Director (AD) responsible for:
  2. Reviewing shot material
  3. Cleaning shot material
  4. Selecting the best shot material
  5. The 1st AD shall collaborate with the DIT to refine the footage selection process.
  6. The 1st AD shall ensure that only the highest-quality shots are included in the DIT project file for post-production.

 

Footage Naming Convention:

      Video Footage Naming:

  • The time and date in all the cameras (Even for the outsourced projects) needs to be accurate.
  • The camera filename: Camera brand (FX3/FX6/FX9) _Cam # (Cam A / Cam B / Cam C) _ serial #

      Audio Footage Naming:

  • Internal Date and time need to be accurate.
  • Filename: Name of Production (AJ360 / Atheer (ATH)) _Name of the show (Optional)_Subject (Topic/Guest/ Host) _Shooting Date (05-09-2024) _Serial Number (001)
